About Me

Hi,

My name is Len (short for Lennart) and I’m a Dutch triathlete. I’ve started training in the winter of 2016 for my first Ironman 70.3 triathlon which was in the summer of 2017 in Zell am See, Austria.

After the IM 70.3 in Zell am See, I became addicted and started training more seriously. Buying a proper triathlon bike and a lot of other gadgets đŸ™‚ In 2018, I competed in two IM 70.3 races: Rapperswil-Jona in Switzerland and Koper in Slovenia.

At the beginning of 2019, I was lucky to get quite some time off from my job and I started training even more. A triathlon coach/trainer and a swim trainer were helping me to train more efficiently and become technically better in the sports. Middle of summer 2019 I did my first IM 70.3 of the year in Elsinore, Denmark, after quite a few other (shorter) triathlons (including my first WIN), I had my best ranking result in the Ironman 70.3 Vichy, France, in August 2019! Place 20 in my age group!

For the season 2020, I had some great plans for 2020 but due to the Covid-19 outbreak, all those plans were messed up. My main priority was the IM 70.3 triathlon in Subic Bay, the Philippines, but it was first postponed and later it was completely canceled for 2020, and in 2021 it was cancelled again… Hopefully take place in March 2022 but I won’t be able to compete in that race anymore due to work schedule :/ Because of the changed plans, in the summer I registered myself for postponed triathlon, the IM 70.3 West-Friesland, in my home country the Netherlands, and for the postponed IM 70.3 Les Sables d’Olonne, France, as well. The triathlon in Les Sables d’Olonne took place with lots of health precautions with a reasonably (read the race report) great result as rank 18 in my age group. West-Friesland was unfortunately canceled for 2020. As a substitute, I registered for the IM 5150 (Olympic Distance) in Maastricht, the Netherlands, at the end of September! I had a great race which resulted in a 4th place! If another athlete didn’t bump into me at the last corner, I would have finished 3rd! Still a great race to finish the crazy season.

Originally I had the postponed Subic Bay triathlon planned for 2021 but in the end that was postponed to 2022. The postponed Ironman 70.3 West-Friesland race would become my last race of the 2021 season at the end of September, in which I had a terrible run and finished only as 23rd.

I started the 2021 season with the Challenge Walchsee were I finished 3rd and qualified for the Challenge World Championship in Samorin where I finished in the middle of the pack. In between both Challenge races, I competed in the Ironman 70.3 in Gdynia, Poland, where I finished 15th in cold and wet conditions…
